Within “Mayroun”: The Palestinian Narrative Program held by RO’A Center for Political and Strategic Studies in Jordan, RO’A and Mayroun’s Participants had visited the Al-Hannouneh Society for Popular Culture in Amman/Jordan. Mayroun’s participants were introduced to Al Hannouneh’s core mission, which is to protect and preserve the popular culture and heritage of the Greater Syria region in general with greater emphasis on Palestine due to the continuous attempts of negating and appropriating its rich cultural heritage.
During the visit, participants and members of Al-Hannouneh listened to Tarek Al-Bakri—Researcher and developer of initiative “We Were and We Still are Here.” Mr. Tarek presented his work on the Palestinian Narrative using visual evidence, cartography, and image matching techniques, to reach the audience and engulf them in the lived experiences of Palestinian refugees within 1948 destroyed Palestinian villages.
