Mersat Project: Empowering Palestinian Youth for Political Leadership

The Mersat Project, is a youth empowering project led by SCD in partnership with RO’A Center for Political and Strategic Studies. This project aims to empower Palestinian youth through comprehensive political education and skill development. The project is implemented in two phases, starting in 2023 and ongoing in 2025.

Phase One (2023) engaged over 80 young participants from across Palestine, including the northern and southern West Bank, the central areas, and the Gaza Strip. These participants received training in conflict transformation and communication skills, equipping them with the tools to engage in constructive dialogue and contribute to the social and political development of their communities.

Building on the success of Phase One, Mersat II (2024-2025) selected 24 youth participants, chosen for their social and political aptitude, to engage in the second phase of the project. Unfortunately, the genocide in Gaza prevented youth from that region from participating. This phase focuses on providing intensive political education through four core modules: Peacebuilding Processes and Negotiation, Concise Citizenship and Democracy, Human Rights, The Roots of the Conflict.

These modules are designed to deepen participants’ understanding of the Palestinian cause, its historical trajectory since 1948, and its ongoing challenges. The ultimate goal of the Mersat Project is to equip youth with the knowledge, skills, and leadership potential to drive meaningful change and contribute to shaping the future of Palestine.
