Youth Workshop: Exploring Palestinian Elections

Youth Workshop: Exploring Palestinian Elections

As part of RO’A Center’s youth engagement activities, a workshop was organized around the paper “Exploring Palestinian Elections: Lessons, Challenges, and Opportunities,” written by Dr. Ammar Dweik. The paper examines the history of Palestinian presidential, legislative, and local elections, alongside the political and legal frameworks and challenges that have shaped the electoral process.

The workshop was facilitated by Jehad Harb and created a space for young participants to engage with the paper’s main arguments and discuss questions of political participation, democratic legitimacy, representation, and the prospects for future Palestinian elections. The discussion also explored the wider political complexities surrounding elections, including internal Palestinian division, Israeli occupation, and regional and international dynamics.

The workshop concluded with a practical policy paper writing session, also facilitated by Jehad Harb, where participants worked to translate the discussion into policy-oriented analysis and recommendations.
